AXLE DIFF PINION OIL SEAL VITON EARLY STYLE

Diff Pinion Oil Seal Original Viton Specification For Land Rover Axles (Not Salisbury Style). See Below For Application Details.

This Seal Is Manufactured In Original Viton Material Which Has a High Temperature Range Than Cheaper Nitrile Material.

Note Apart From Salisbury There Were 4 Other Types Of Diff Pinion Oil Seal Fitted So If You Have Discovery I, VIN Number And Axle Serial Number Are Essential For Correct Identification. The Serial Number Is Stamped On The Front Or Top Of The Axle Casing, On The Left Hand Side (roughly in line with the axle breather).
Serial Numbers Comprise A 3-figure Code, Identifying The Axle Type, Followed By The Serial Number And Then A Suffix Letter (A, B or C).

Also There Is The Possibility Of The Vehicle Having Had An Axle Change, A Recon Diff Fitted, or a Superceded Flange Kit Fitted. If At All Possible It Is Ideal To Take The Old Seal Out First To Identify, or Identify From the Mudshield Type. We Usually Have All Types In Stock So There Is Little Delay In Identifying By This Route.

This Seal is Used With FRC8154 Mudshield Which is usully found on the early square type flanges. Later square and round diff flanges use FTC5317 Mudshield which is deeper. It is important to fit the correct mudshield / oil seal combination since leaks will otherwise occur after a short period of time.
